Studying and working hard right up until the end of term, 5JC and 5MC have just turned in a fabulous set of results in the end-of-unit assessment for their recent NEGATIVE NUMBERS topic in maths:
46% with full marks
88% scoring 90%+
Every pupil achieving 85%+
What a way to finish, Year 5!
Mrs Braud and Mrs Wood
On Tuesday evening, Year 6 pupils were joined by their families and teachers in The Squire Performing Arts Centre for a formal celebration of the girls’ achievements throughout their time in the Junior School. Through music and film, we celebrated a wonderful cohort of pupils who have achieved so much, and our Head Girl and two house captains for 2026-27 delivered inspiring speeches that gave encouragement and a taste of things to come in Senior School.
Each girl received a certificate and yearbook, with their personal achievements acknowledged by Mrs Fowler and a Senior School Academic Scholarship announced for Charlotte Chen.
Mr Rolfe
The results of our recent guitar, Trinity College and LCME Acoustic Guitar exams are just mind-blowing! These outcomes are testament to the hard work, commitment and care which our students put into their music making, and the support of their amazing tutors. Well done, girls!
Last week, we bade farewell to two remarkable members of the Music Department. Mr Browne has retired after an incredible 44 years of service teaching clarinet and saxophone, and managing our various wind ensembles.
He has inspired thousands of students over his amazing tenure and has been an irreplaceable, supportive colleague to staff across the whole school.
We also said goodbye to the incredible Mrs Browne, who has helped for over 15 years as our exam administrator.
We thank both of you for everything you have done for our school community; you will be sorely missed and we wish you the very best for the future! 👏🏻
Miss Abbott
As another academic year ends, we can look back with great pride at PE and sport achievements, with girls keen to be involved across a range of activities.
Swimming gives all children oportunities to develop what is ultimately a life saving skill, and I was especially impressed with EYFS and KS1 during their recent work on ‘float to live’ as part of the Royal Life Saving Society’s drowning prevention campaign.
Sports day is also a highlight of my year and despite the best efforts of the heatwave, we managed a slimmed down version here at school. Congratulations once again to Hastings on their EYFS win, and to Bolton on their junior victory. Even Year 6 enjoyed the medal ceremony at their Robinwood residential!
I wish you all a lovely sporting summer, including enjoyment of the final few days of Wimbledon and the conclusion of the men’s football World Cup. Dare we dream that The Three Lions can finally bring it home? C’mon England!
From September, Drama Club with Rosie and Matthew will be open to Years 1-6 on Fridays from 3:45pm to 5pm.
Mrs Fowler
We have reviewed After School Club provision across both the Junior and Senior School, alongside clubs and activities on offer after 3:40pm, and new bus arrangements. We appreciate that many parents find it helpful to avoid the congestion around Balmoral Road immediately before and at the end of the day, so we will continue to offer a period of free after school care to accommodate those who prefer a slightly later pickup or who are unexpectedly delayed.
From September, our dedicated NGHS school buses will leave Baker Street at 4pm, which should ease congestion from that point. As such, girls will be welcome to wait at After School Club until 4:15pm free of charge.
At present, our paid-for After School Club is used by the vast majority of parents until 5:30pm, with only a handful of girls occasionally remaining beyond this point. From now on, this service will be available from 4:15pm to 5:30pm, and all clubs - including Senior School after school provision - will also finish by 5:30pm at the latest.
Junior After School Club charges from September 2026
Between 3:40 and 4:15pm - free of charge *
Between 4:15pm and 5pm - £7
Until 5:30pm: £12
Until 5:30pm with food - £17 (sandwich, fruit and cereal bar or similar)
* If you wish to use this faciity regularly, please pre-book. This reduces delays at After School Club registration.
An reminder for parents
NGHS Juniors continues to be at the forefront of classroom technology, having been an early adopter of tablets in lessons.
From September, girls up to Year 2 will continue to use iPads, with girls from Year 3 upwards using Google Chromebooks. For parents of girls new to Year 3, this step up will widen your daughters' expertise with different devices and operating systems, and will help to develop their keyboard skills.
In terms of headphones or earphones which you provide for use in school, both devices are Bluetooth compatible - however please be reminded that the jacks for any wired earpieces is different:
Apple Lightning connection for iPad
3.5mm jack for Chromebook
