Wow, just WOW! Huge congratulations to our amazing Nottingham City Cross Country Team Champions who were victorious at Wednesday's fixture in the grounds of Wollaton Hall.
Well done also to Elsie and Magdalena who took 1st and 2nd positions, and to Maya and Tilly who also finished in the top 10 - these girls have qualified for the county finals in February!
Thursday saw another cross country event, this time hosted by Highfields School in Newark where once again Elsie was victorious in the U11 race, demonstrating excellent resilience and real determination. The U11s team finished 3rd out of 12 schools - WHAT A GREAT RESULT!
Our U9 team also worked well in this, their first cross country event. Highest scorer was Rosie in 6th place, with the team also finishing in 3rd position over all. This was a super achievement, showing plenty of grit and boding well for the future.
With the greatest respect...
Mrs Braud
To mark Anti-Bullying Week 2024, we started out on Monday with a whole-school focus on the positive impact of RESPECT in all its forms, with every girl involved in a packed programme of special House events. Working collaboratively from Nursery to Year 6, we have celebrated small acts of kindness and made respect-themed pledges to ourselves, our friends and our communities.
It was wonderful to hear so many girls saying how much they loved connecting with other year groups - so well done to our Year 6 House Captains and their classmates who supported, encouraged and welcomed younger pupils in a range of activities and at lunch. We are so proud of you, 6B and 6C!
On Wednesday, we continued with our RESPECT theme by celebrating World Kindness Day and by wearing our own choices of clothing. It was especially lovely to see some girls opting for traditional outfits that reflected their culture or roots, as we celebrated individuality and continued to promote respect for everyone.
** BREAKING NEWS **
Representatives from School Council and our Sisters of Charity met on Thursday to chat about the importance of young people's mental health. They would like to thank everyone who paid £1 on non-uniform day, and to announce that they have decided to donate this money to Children in Need, with many of them having seen the recent Heaviest Backpack advertisements on television:
Parking and security update 🚗
Mr Evans, Operations Manager
We have recently installed new gates to the main school car park which operate on ANPR (automatic number plate recognition). This system permits entry for staff cars registered with the school.
Seven parking bays immediately in front of the Music House ⑥ have now been designated for visitors. If these are full and parents require access to the main car park during the school day, an intercom at the gate will connect drivers with our Senior and Junior Reception staff who can facilitate entry.
For parents’ evenings, concerts and other events outside of school hours, the gates will be programmed to remain open, so that parents can access the car park as usual.
Windblowers Cup 2024 🎻
Mr Rolfe
On Tuesday evening, talented pupils shortlisted for this year's music prize took to the stage at the SquirePAC, with every performer captivating the audience and awarded trophies for their outstanding efforts.
Special congratulations go to Florence Danielson, recipient of The Windblowers Cup for the best performance of the evening. And in a thrilling finish, Skeel claimed the House Music Trophy, edging out Bolton by just five points - great work from the blue team! Our runners up from the first round will be awarded medals next week, bringing this house music celebration to a fitting climax.
The adjudication panel praised the remarkable skill and dedication shown by students, and expressed their excitement for the future of Junior School music. We are incredibly proud of all the performers - well done to each and every one of you!

A grand day out!
Mr Cox
Well done to everyone who completed our annual BBC Countryfile Ramble this week, and thank you to every family that supported this ever-popular event with generous sponsorship. With a sterling all-round team effort - and most of our girls walking 10km for Pudsey - we have raised over £1,200 in sponsorship pledges, which will be payable shortly via ParentPay.
Thanks also go to NET for providing complimentary tram travel, transporting Years 2 to 6 with speed, comfort and convenience - and helping us to demonstrate once more that so many of Nottingham's green spaces are accessible without the need for car travel.

Happy birthday, Guru Nanak Ji!
Our NGHS Diversity Calendar theme for November is Faith in Our Community, and this coincides with us saying Happy Guru Nanak Gurpurab 2024! To all of our Sikh families and followers, we wish you peace and prosperity on this special day - the 555th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak. We know that this event will be marked with prayers, processions, feasts and other special events, and we hope you enjoy spending time with your friends and loved ones.

Fetch the engine! 🔥
Mrs Garton
As part of their Fire! Fire! topic, Year 1 recently visited Stockhill Fire Station in Basford, where firefighter Paige took them on a guided tour behind the scenes that included the gym and rest areas. There were also opportunities to see how to operate a fire hydrant, and meet key workers who help us in our everyday lives - for example rescuing people from road traffic accidents, and dealing with chemical spillages.
Back at school, a Great Fire of London workshop led by the Partake Theatre Company allowed the girls to step back in time. They reenacted the story of baker Thomas Farriner starting the inferno on Pudding Lane, and learnt how parts of the city had to be rebuilt under the reign of King Charles II.
Jolly hockey sticks 🏑
Miss Abbott
The Y5/Y6 hockey team played against Hollygirt School this week in a series of 6-a-side games, followed by a full 11-a-side match. They gained some good experience, and next week they will have the chance to go up against the same opposition again, following the the same format.
